As the COVID-19 pandemic persisted, Media Markt, a leading retailer of consumer electronics and appliances in Greece, wanted to overcome the limitations of the lockdowns and help customers enjoy the in-store shopping experience from the comfort of their homes.
Media Markt adopted 'Personal Video Shopping' by Valuelenz, introducing a revolutionary shopping channel that blended the convenience of digital browsing with the personalized touch of in-store assistance. For the first time in Greece, customers could enjoy the best of both worlds and shop end-to-end simply through a video-call, assisted by a Media Markt sales associate in-store.
Customers would schedule an appointment online, then during the video call a sales associate would share their screen, showcasing products within the store, while offering guidance and advice about what to choose. The associate would then prepare a basket with the products the customer had selected, send it instantly via email or SMS to the customer for easy checkout and payment. The solution required no IT effort from Media Markt.
Apart from the significant basket value increase (+350%) compared to the basket value of Media Markt’s e-shop, another insightful observation was that more than 95% of all personal video sessions came from locations where Media Markt had no physical store. This approach allowed Media Markt to expand its reach virtually, accessing markets nationwide without the need for additional physical locations.
Our exclusive cooperation led to the pioneering service ‘Personal Video Shopping’ - something that we are truly proud of, as MediaMarkt is the first Greek retailer to turn this innovative idea into a reality.
